SAN MARCOS CHRISTIAN CAMP – COVID-19: CORONAVIRUS UPDATE
San Marcos Christian Camp is deeply committed to the health and safety of all our guests and staff.
In recent weeks, there has been a lot of news coverage regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19). Our health staff and leadership are aware of the issues and concerns. We continue to have procedures in place that will mitigate any potential impact on our guests (pre-camp screening of campers for sickness, monitoring guests while on-site, hand-washing stations, additional cleaning procedures, isolation of the sick and removal from camp as needed).
To date, we have had no detected outbreaks of Coronavirus with our guests, churches, or our local community. Thus far, we have only seen normal seasonal flu issues at our property.
In the event of an outbreak affecting San Marcos, we will follow directions as needed from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)—as well as state and local agencies—up to and including quarantines of guests, staff or staff families, and will comply with camp closure if mandated. We will continue to track the status of communicable diseases, use best practices to reduce the impact of these diseases, and communicate any potential impacts to our guests and staff.
Additionally, we would like to inform you of steps you can take to protect yourself from illness. Based upon advice from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC):
-
Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
-
Do not touch your face.
-
Clean and disinfect items and surfaces that you touch frequently.
-
Cover your coughs and sneezes – tissues, your elbow, or clothing – not your hands.
-
Use verbal salutations instead of handshakes.
The CDC and WHO websites each provide some good resources for you, as well.
Please know that our team is taking this seriously and we are monitoring this situation closely. We will continue to do what we can to protect you and we appreciate your partnership in doing what you can to keep safe and healthy. We will be conducting onsite health inspections of campers upon arrival. Any campers found not to be in good health will be sent home. Sick campers sent home that do not spend the night will be refunded 100% of their registration fees.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at: info@sanmarcoscamp.com or call us at: (805) 967-5773.
Thank you for your partnership in this time!
